The highly anticipated Barbados Food and Rum Festival is back this October 19-22, offering foodies and rum enthusiasts a taste of paradise. As the leading luxury real estate firm on the island, we at Residence Barbados are thrilled to share the details of this iconic culinary event and showcase why Barbados is the perfect place to own a second home.

Launched in 2009, the festival has grown to become a beloved tradition, celebrating Bajan cuisine, culture and, of course, our national drink – rum. Initially known as the Barbados Food & Wine and Rum Festivals, it was a way to promote local agriculture and food artisans. Today, it draws thousands of visitors annually and is a major driver of Barbados’ thriving tourism economy.

This year’s theme, “Feed the Future”, underscores the importance of sustainability in our food system. Events will feature foraging experiences, agricultural talks and menus highlighting locally sourced ingredients. Top chefs from Barbados and abroad will also host intimate cooking demonstrations.

Festival-goers can indulge at various food markets held across the island, from casual beach BBQs to fine dining affairs. And what food and rum festival would be complete without sampling rum-inspired cocktails? Look out for tasting sessions at renowned rum distilleries as well.
