They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So if you are based on the South Coast of Barbados and looking for ideas, we’ve identified 10 of the best breakfast places based on Facebook feedback. 1 Bliss Cafe

Considered by many to be the best place for breakfast on the south coast, Bliss is a family-run cafe located in St Lawrence Gap serving breakfast and lunch. It is also one of the best destinations for those looking for gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan and halal options. Visit at the weekend and try their new Red Velvet ‘n’ Fried Chicken’ Waffle or their Lemon Meringue Pie Shake.

2 Pronto

One of the most popular breakfast destinations in St Lawrence Gap, Pronto’s Breakfast Club serves up classic breakfast dishes, including The Full Monty British Breakfast, their signature three-egg omelette and a traditional Bajan Breakfast full of local specialities. The menu is served from 8 am through to 11 am. Payment is accepted in BD$, US$ and GBP£, and no service charge is added. Tipping is at your discretion.

3 Sharkey’s Tropical Cafe

Located in the heart of St. Lawrence Gap, Sharkey’s is a vibrant and friendly restaurant filled with colour and Caribbean sounds. This super casual street-side bar opens every day for breakfast from 8 am and serves a wide breakfast menu, juices and smoothies, speciality coffee and awesome cocktails if you fancy it. Sharkey’s is a Residence Barbados team favourite!

Sharkeys South Coast Breakfast

4 Mimosa

Based in Worthing, Mimosa offers oceanfront casual dining specialising in pizza, pasta and salads. Their breakfast is very popular and is served from 9 am. Although the menu is limited, their Big Boy Breakfast comprising three eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, baked beans, potatoes and toast will set you up for a day on the beach! And of course, you must try one of their signature Mimosas!

5 Surfers Cafe

Surfers Cafe overlooks Oistins Bay and offers a laid back atmosphere, great service, and delicious food and drinks. Located opposite Massy Supermarket, guests can enjoy one of the best views of beautiful Oistins Bay. The extensive breakfast menu is served from 7 am and includes a good value “build your own” breakfast, eggs benny and avocado toast. For those needing their early morning coffee fix, they serve Lavazza Italian coffee.

6 Happy Days Cafe

You’ll find Happy Days in the Chattel Village in St Lawrence Gap. This breakfast/brunch restaurant has a Specials Menu, currently featuring a breakfast hot dog and Hungry Man Stack and an everyday breakfast menu. This includes four options – all perfect for meat lovers! Check the Facebook page for opening times, as these do vary week to week.

7 Yellow Bird Hotel

Located at the start of St. Lawrence Bay, the Yellow Bird is a boutique hotel featuring the On The Bay restaurant, open to the public. There are amazing views across the bay from the patio, so make sure your phone is charged so you can take photos. Breakfast is served from 7.30 am, offering favourite classics such as the Hearty English and Big Up Bajan.

8 Artsplash Centre Cafe

Based in the large pink building opposite the Hastings Rocks Esplanade and Boardwalk, the Artsplash community centre cafe offers a healthy selection of fresh breakfasts, lunches, snacks and great juices and smoothies. So take a seat on the sea-view veranda and enjoy huevos rancheros, eggs Hemmingway, energy bowls, and smoked salmon bagels. Try the monkey business cocktail!

9 6Mix

Available on Saturdays and Sundays from 7 am, 6Mix is a trendy sports bar located in Worthing, next to the Graeme Hall Sanctuary. Watch the weekend’s sporting events while tucking into breakfast classics, including the 6Mix Breakfast with three eggs, pancakes, hashbrowns, bacon and sausage, and the delicious Breakfast Burrito.

10 Sage Bistro

The new-kid-on-the-block and proving to be very popular is Sage Bistro near Carlisle Bay. This quaint and beautifully decorated bistro is a hidden gem in the heart of the south coast. The menu includes a good value hearty breakfast, healthy granola bowl and avocado toast – and don’t forget to try their refreshing homemade lemonade. The Residence Barbados team recently visited and were very impressed with the surroundings, the service and the food!
